First visit – Dr. Janes will take impressions of your upper and lower teeth. He will then use a TENS unit (Transcutaneous Electro Neural Stimulation) to help relax your muscles, putting them in the most comfortable position. With the aid of a computer, Dr. Janes will then track your jaw and determine its best possible position. The impressions and information gathered by the computer will be sent to a lab where your custom PPM will be created.
Second visit – Your PPM will be fitted. Any minor changes to the mouthguard will be performed at this time to ensure your maximum comfort. This second visit should not take more than 5 - 10 minutes. With your new PPM, and your jaw in its optimal position, your jaw muscles and joints will no longer be stressed. The result is the best bite alignment possible, improved balance, and increased upper body strength.
