In recent years, tooth whitening has become one of the most popular cosmetic dentistry procedures across the country. The ease and quickness of tooth whitening make it very appealing to many people looking to recapture a dazzling white smile.
Dr. Janes is proud to offer the Zoom!™ tooth whitening system at his office. This method allows Dr. Janes to lighten your teeth by up to 12 shades. The procedure is simple and painless. The entire whitening process will be completed in one 90-minute appointment at our office.
Zoom! uses a gel comprised primarily out of hydrogen peroxide to bleach your teeth. After covering your gums and lips to prevent irritation, this gel will be spread across your teeth. Dr. Janes will use a special laser light to activate the bleaching agent in the gel.
You will require three applications of this gel. Each application will last about 15 minutes. You can listen to music or watch TV to pass the time. The process will be finished off with a fluoride treatment and you will be on your way.
Please remember that while tooth whitening will provide you with a vastly improved, pearly white smile, it is not a permanent fix to your stained teeth. The effects of the procedure will generally last several years, but ultimately, your teeth will once again become stained. Many commonly-consumed beverages, including coffee, tea, soda, and red wine, will continue to stain your teeth. If after a few years you feel you need to once again revitalize your smile, Dr. Janes can perform another whitening procedure for you.
